Christmas is a special time for children just as it is for the kids-at-heart. On December 13, 2008, Focus Interactive spent Christmas this time around with children (aged between seven and 14) with impairment from less fortunate families in Brgy. Zapatera, Cebu City. Later that day, it was a denim party, indeed, as all of us sported our denim attires in our own creative ways – ot hers simply wore the ever popular t-shirt-jeans ensemble while some opted to go the extra mile by pairing jeans with denim jackets and cowboy boots, or donning an overall denim attire.
True Meaning of Christmas: The Focus Way
We spent a couple hours that afternoon watching over and playing with children who were either deaf-mute, mentally challenged, had Down syndrome, or learning disability. We also saw delight in their faces when each adoptive Focus ate (older sister) and kuya (older brother) gave a present to their little brother or sister. It was a fulfilling experience for everyone so that we were hoping for a similar activity next year, even when it’s not Christmas.
The Christmas Party: A Very Denim Evening
Two team members who wore the most creative denim attire also received special prizes. Forty-nine minor prizes were raffled off in three events, which gave the chance for everyone to receive a prize. The minor prizes were wrapped as presents so nobody, except the committee members that prepared them, knew what were inside. After the last minor prize, Ms. Loreen Sarmiento, Managing Director at Focus Interactive, took over the microphone and raffled winners for the three major prizes that included a stand fan (third major prize), turbo broiler (second major prize), and washing machine (grand prize). It’s been proven in the past Focus Interactive Christmas parties and in the latest: we guys rock not only at work but also in Christmas Party presentations. Although only one could win first prize, all three teams came up with wacky, well-thought of presentations of dances and our own version of the 12 Days of Christmas. Team Santa Claus, Reindeer, and Frosty the Snowman won third, second, and first, respectively.
